Seven Years ago while attending the Goa Film Festival, one of my Director Friend from South, asked me phone number of one renowned Punjabi actor. I didn’t have his number. I tried to get his number from an acquaintance and this so called ‘known’ acquaintance tried to give me excuses to give that actor’s number. Looking at my helplessness in providing the number, my Director friend asked me, don’t you have Punjabi Film Industry’s Telephone Directory? When I came back to Chandigarh and inquired about Punjabi Film Industry’s Telephone Directory, it actually didn’t exist. That very day this idea of Punjabi Film Industry’s Telephone Directory clicked me. I discussed with few close friends and they gave me a very positive response for the same and this project became a mission for me.

But this task was not an easy job. Big artist never wanted to shared their numbers and their this resistance was somehow right also. My plan was to distribute this Telephone Directory completely free of cost. The artists and actors thought that if this Directory is with everyone than anyone can take his/her number and will keep on calling them up. But most of them, specially the newcomers, were actually in search of this kind of Directory. They wanted their number should be circulated to maximum number of people in order to grab some work.

Collecting contact details of artists, production houses, technical staff and film makers was much tougher task than arranging funds for this project but surprisingly when we reached the third edition, the artists started reaching out to me themselves. When the Industry people came to know the importance of this directory, they themselves started giving me their contact details. In the third and fourth edition, few artists’ details were published along with their pictures while in third

edition, contact details of five thousand artists and filmmakers were published along with their pictures. Though the journey of publishing “Pollywood Directory” was little challenging but with the support of friends related to music and fashion industry, this publication has reached the fifth volume. Although, I have been less proactive to publish fifth edition this time but Industry people’s lot of phone calls are forcing us to plan the fourth volume. Lot of friends have given new suggestions to improve fifth edition. Many new faces have been introduced in the music and fashion industry since the last two years . Hope with all this support, fifth edition of Pollywood Directory will be more wonderful and amazing.

Friends, the fifth edition of this directory will be published in the month of June, 2020. You all are welcomed to participate in this edition. This is an open invitation to all of you, connected and related to entertainment Industry, to please send their contact details with a photograph to us, and it’s completely free of cost.

Information and network are two important things to move ahead in any field. Before you go to any field you have to build a network with the people in that same field. If you go to the film industry of any language, including Bollywood or South, to create a network, and to know the people working there, the biggest tool is the telephone and information directory of that industry. Through this Directory only you come to know who all are working in the industry, who and how to contact them and who all are associated with your kind of work. Keeping all these things only in mind, this Pollywood Directory was started and created, whose 5th Edition is Released Recently.

The Pollywood Directory is by far the largest information center in the Punjabi Entertainment Industry, which contains the contacts and other important information of industry’s almost every new and old artist active in the industry comprising Actor, Director, Models, Writer, Singers, musicians, technicians and production houses. Which is further divided into different fifty Two (52) categories. Along with this, it has a lot of information about to Punjabi Entertainment Industry. The Directory also Carries information about the Punjabi Film Released from 1935 to 2020. In a way it will serve as an encyclopedia on Punjabi film industry. It also has dope on some unknown facts about the industry, which one wouldn’t find anywhere.

Last but not the Least, the directory has a special Birthday Memo that will let you know the Birthdate of your favourite artist.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this directory Captures the entire Punjabi Industry in its true essence literally in flesh and blood.

What is new in the 5th Edition of
Pollywood Directory?

This Directory is printer after every two years and the latest Edition of 2020-2021 will be released in the month of June 2020. Like before, this directory will also be released in the presence of several artists and media fraternity people. The look of this new edition is entirely different from the previous editions.

« This edition will carry lot of new things. In addition, this directory will be promoted as a Business Directory.

« This 400 paged directory would include punjabi music, films, theatre and fashion industry’s related people’s contact information will be provided which will be segregated in 43 different categories which will include artist (Male), artist (female), child artists, singers (Male & female), playback singers, film directors, art directors, action directors, dance directors (choreographers), video directors, models (Male & Female), film writers, lyricists, music director, theatre and TV artists, video and film editors, fashion photographers, dress designers, hair and makeup artists, makeup studios, film studios, producers, line producers, production houses, music companies, lifestyle journalists, dubbing artists, music, dance and acting schools information.
